Responsibilities

 

The Office of the University Registrar is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of AdmissionsOffice of the University RegistrarOffice of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management’s integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student's development and progression in their academic experience – from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.

This position is responsible for managing and supporting the University program to determine, coordinate, and process student athlete eligibility for certification in accordance with NCAA, ACC, and University rules, bylaws, and policies.

In partnership with the Athletics Program Manager (position 51673), responsible for the effective management and operation of the athletic support functions of the registrar.  Administers the development, coordination, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures required to ensure active student athletes are in compliance with established NCAA, ACC, and University eligibility criteria for participation in their respective sport.

Responsible for various aspects of the Registrar's function in relation to athletic eligibility and certification.  Manages efforts with the office of Athletic Academic Support Services and Compliance to establish and maintain a comprehensive and effective mechanism to monitor and certify student athletes for practice and competition NCAA sanctioned events. Evaluates prospective transfer student-athletes for NCAA transfer eligibility requirements at the point of recruitment as well as throughout the application and transfer process.

Responsible for the data collection of student-athlete academic eligibility and retention statistics. This data is required to be reported annually as part of the NCAA Academic Performance Program, specifically for calculation of the institution's Academic Performance Rate (APR) and the Graduation Success Rate (GSR). The aggregate data for each institution is published on the NCAA website. Should the institution's APR not meet the minimum standard set by the NCAA, the institution and its athletics program could be subject to penalties. Serves as a resource on Academic Performance Program and provides feedback to institutional personnel with regard to the impact of policy- and decision-making on the institution's APR/GSR.

Responsible for the development, implementation, and interpretation of policies related to NCAA, ACC, and University requirements for athletic eligibility and certification.  Maintains current internal operating policies and procedures to ensure NCAA, ACC, and University policy enforcement.

Position serves as a contact within the Registrar's Office for Athletic Compliance and Athletic Advising staff members to ensure compliance with all University Policies and Procedures and provides clarification and interpretation support as needed.

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to academic and/or student services or; a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in the same. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)

Preferred Qualifications

 
  • Successful candidates will have prior experience in NCAA compliance, academic advising, or student services. 
  • Previous experience in meeting deadlines with the ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment in required. 
  • Candidates should be self-starters with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision and possess strong critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Candidates should have experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and other computer applications and functions as well the ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information and utilize problem solving skills. 
  • Preferred candidates will have a working knowledge of NCAA regulations gained through prior work experience in athletics or student services at a Division I institution, at a Division I conference office or the NCAA national office. 
  • Previous experience serving in a full-time athletics compliance or academic advisor position or at a Division I institution would be a plus.

Anticipated Salary Range

 

Anticipated salary range for this position is around $47,660.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
